At least three months before your wedding,
you should prepare your invitations for mailing. You have already selected,
ordered and hopefully received your wedding invitations, announcements
and thank-you notes.
If you have not already made up your
final guest list you should now do so. You must assemble the correct
names and addresses of each person or couple to receive an invitation.
Your stationery representative can assist you with any etiquette guidelines
you will need in addressing people with various proper titles. Refer
to the previous section of this Resource entitled INVITATIONS,
ANNOUNCEMENTS AND THANK-YOU NOTES.
Unless you have attractive and legible
handwriting, you might want to consider calligraphy for addressing your
invitations. The art of calligraphy is a special skill of writing by
hand. You can get recommendations of qualified calligraphers from your
stationery representative.
You can also find stationery shops with
calligraphy machines. Here you can possibly find a less costly way to
address your invitations attractively.
Calligraphy can also be effectively used
to produce attractive place cards for your reception tables.
Invitations should be mailed six to eight
weeks before the wedding. Announcements should not be mailed until after
the wedding has taken place.
